This mid-century Italian maiolica wall plaque was produced in Rome by the studio of Roberto Lanchi, known for hand-painted ceramics and traditional tin-glaze workmanship.
The piece presents a Renaissance-inspired devotional scene featuring the Madonna and Child within a medallion, accompanied by a donor figure and framed by architectural motifs referencing Italian Quattrocento maiolica. The lower cartouche bears the inscription identifying it as a votive image created per grazia ricevuta.
The plaque is constructed from a substantial earthenware slab with a fully hand-painted surface and clear glaze. A studio label from Lanchi’s Ceramiche e Vetri d’Arte workshop remains on the reverse.
Provenance details unknown; acquired directly from a Northern California collection.
