A bold and intricately detailed vintage Japanese Kutani Shishi (Foo Dog) statue, crafted in the 1980s during Japan’s Showa Era. This guardian lion — known as Shishi in Japanese tradition — is revered for its power to ward off evil spirits and invite good fortune, making it a cherished symbol in homes, temples, and spiritual collections.
Expertly formed in Kutani-style ceramic, the sculpture features a rich white glaze, dramatic curled mane, and fierce expression. One paw rests atop a vividly decorated red orb with pierced floral motifs and gilded accents — a symbol of cosmic protection and dominion. Gold flourishes swirl across the mane, tail, and body, adding regal energy and visual depth.
