Hand-carved with precise edges, the inch-and-a-half marble top has a wonderful, striated red and brown hue with lively veins of cream and white. The base is significantly older than the marble, having been crafted from repurposed cast and wrought iron architectural elements. For example, the frieze (including the back side), which consists of two layers of repeating volutes and roundels, was once part of a wrought iron gate. Beneath are four cast iron legs, reminiscent of torches, that were originally part of another exterior structure. All sections of the base have developed a tremendous, oxidized patina that ties in perfectly with the dark cherry palette of the marble. A beautiful French console that is perfect for an entry hall, living room, or even outside beneath a covered patio. See less
