This early 1900’s oil on canvas titled “The Smoker,” signed Santamaria, is a reproduction of Adriaen Brouwer’s masterpiece originally painted between 1635 and 1640. It portrays a rustic interior scene with a young man leisurely smoking a pipe while another figure lingers in the background.
