Expressive small Japanese vase for ikebana or chabana, hand-formed from stoneware with an organic shape.
Dimensions: height 10 cm, width 10 cm, depth 7 cm.
The vase stands on four folded feet, and the surface is covered with a soft white-grey glaze with subtle craquelure that reveals the texture of the clay. Around the body, loose dark brushstrokes form curved lines, like blades of grass moving in the wind. On the underside there is a small potter’s signature painted with a brush.
This type of compact vase is used in Japan as a hanaire or small ikebana vase: perfect for a single small branch, a wildflower or a modest arrangement. Even without flowers it works as a quiet, discreet object on a shelf, windowsill or in a tokonoma-like niche – a small piece of studio pottery that instantly adds texture and calm to an interior.
The vase is in perfect condition.
