Atmospheric set of two small Japanese vases, shaped like bamboo stalks and finished with a soft, jade-green celadon glaze.
Dimensions per vase: height 12 cm, diameter 6 cm.
The vases are modelled as a bamboo stem, with a subtle relief of leaves.
In Japan, this type of vase would be used as a small kabin or ikebana vase: ideal for a few bamboo sprigs, a single flower or a simple seasonal arrangement. Placed together on a low cabinet, windowsill or in a niche, they are highly decorative; the combination of the fresh green colour and the bamboo motif instantly brings a calm, almost tea-ceremony-like atmosphere to the room.
The vases date from the 1940s and are in excellent condition.
