Alméry Lobel-Riche (Geneva B-1877- Paris D-1950) was a French artist, mainly known for his work as an illustrator and his orientalist paintings. French painter, engraver and illustrator.
Inspired by his travels in North Africa, he developed an interest in orientalism and captured scenes of daily life in Morocco and its surroundings, such as Ben Mansour.
This piece is professionally framed, signed twice in the print, and includes a Remarque:
Signed:
1) Lobel Riche in the plate upper right, and
2) In the lower right margin lower right.
The Remarque etching/sketch is found in the lower left (the gentleman's head), and is typically added by the artist in the margin of a print, often done in pencil or ink, and serves as a unique detail, later in years, becoming a collector's item, making the print more valuable and distinct from a standard edition
Aquatint is an intaglio/incised printmaking technique, a variant of etching that produces areas of tone rather than lines in colors on paper. This piece has been professionally cleaned.
