Beautiful, unadorned late Biedermeier casket box made of solid birch wood from northern Germany, circa 1840.
Ebonized diamond as key crest. Original brass lock and hinges. Inside, there is a shelf in the middle. Restored condition, hand-polished with shellac. The lid is slightly warped, which means that the lock no longer closes properly.
