Wonderful vintage set designed by Theo Baumann in the 1960s. Twelve coffee cups, coffee pot, and creamer and suger set. Fifteen pieces total. The line was named 'Secunda Purpur'. In German, Purpur can mean purple or crimson. I would describe the color as more of a burgundy. The dimension is for the coffee pot.
Rosenthal was founded in 1879 by Philipp Rosenthal, who started the company as a porcelain painting business in Erkersreuth Castle in Selb, Bavaria. The company later expanded into manufacturing its own porcelain, becoming a well-known German manufacturer of high-quality tableware and household goods.
Baumann was born in Switzerland in 1924. His extensive portfolio includes designs for more than 50 firms in Germany and abroad. Baumann worked with porcelain, glass and ceramics, with metal, textiles and plastic, created lamps and furniture, as well as graphic designs.
