Beautiful matched pair of vintage Indian zardozi embroidered panels, each showing a richly dressed noble figure—one on horseback and one riding a caparisoned elephant. Hand-worked with raised metallic thread, silk/rayon floss, and hand-cut metal sequins. Classic mid-century Indian textile art with terrific detail and texture.
Both panels were mounted onto brown fabric borders at a later date, giving them a display-ready 18” square size. The pair presents very well together. The horseman panel shows more fading to the metallic threads, typical for older zardozi, while the elephant rider retains stronger color. Both have age-appropriate patina and remain stable and decorative.
Perfect framed or hung as textile art. Works beautifully in global, bohemian, eclectic, or traditional interiors.
Zardozi, Indian textile, embroidered panel, elephant rider, horseman, vintage tapestry, global décor, boho wall art, textile art, sitara embroidery
