Antique 19th century ornithological bird print by Alexander Wilson (Scottish American 1766 - 1813) - Snow Owl and Male Sparrow Hawk. Framed in thin wood molding. The print presents well but has fading and light staining on the background. The brown paper on the back of the frame is torn. Presents very well as a charming old, antique print. Measures 14 1/2" x 11".
Wilson is called the "Father of American Ornithology" and is regarded as the greatest American ornithologist before Audubon.
