Antique tole painted tea canister lamp, c.1880
Made in China as a container to ship out tea to England. This is number 3 from a larger batch of 10 or so and is painted green with decorative swirling gold highlights. They were all hand decorated by local artists to represent the local culture. At some point this tin has been mounted on a wood base and converted into a lamp. Good overall antique condition with age wear and paint losses, but this only adds to the character and patina of the tin. Tin height is 19”. Recently fully re-wired and in working order.
