A late Ottoman hand-forged copper pitcher dating to approximately 1880–1920, crafted in the traditional Anatolian manner for domestic water service. Formed from heavy-gauge copper, the vessel displays a paneled, hammer-raised body, rising to a flared neck fitted with its original hinged lid. The interior retains traces of its original fire-applied tin lining, a regional practice used to protect potable water from copper contact.
The handle, forged separately from iron or brass, is riveted through the neck and secured with hand-peened hardware, illustrating small-workshop smithing techniques characteristic of rural Anatolia and northern Syria. Surface patination, tool marks, and construction details reflect authentic 19th-century craftsmanship.
