Crafted in imported fur felt, this classic “crusher-style” cap features an olive-drab wool crown, a textured mohair band, a polished black leather visor, and the original gold officer’s chin strap secured with two Great Seal military buttons.
Bancroft was famous for producing high-quality officer caps during World War II, the late 1940s, and the Korean War era, and this example displays the construction traits and materials consistent with that period. The interior retains the original Bancroft diamond logo, a leather sweatband marked “U.S. Army Approved – Cert. No. 4-089-6”, and an old handwritten name tag from the officer who wore it.
This cap has a distinguished, gently worn patina that enhances its authenticity and vintage character. It makes an excellent decorative accent for masculine interiors, libraries, offices, collectors’ displays, or Americana-themed décor.
