Known for her distinctive sculptural work … Read more A rare signed pair of 1978 wall-mounted ceramic hands by California artist Nancy Funk. Known for her distinctive sculptural work under N. Funk Ceramics, Funk created expressive life-cast hand forms throughout the 1970s that bridge functional object and pop-art sculpture. This pair represents one of her most versatile designs.

Each hand features a flat back with original mounting holes, allowing the pieces to be displayed on the wall as striking candle sconces. Turned horizontally, the hands can also support a towel bar or display rod (not included), a feature occasionally seen in her multifunctional studio pieces. The high-gloss white glaze and lifelike casting give them a clean, modern presence while keeping the whimsical and surreal tone characteristic of her work.

Wall-mounted Nancy Funk hands are far less common than the freestanding versions, especially as a matched, dated pair representing both a left and right hand.
