Subject and Style: The hand-painted painting depicts pomegranate branches with open fruits revealing red seeds (in Chinese culture, the open pomegranate symbolizes "one hundred sons," or fertility and abundance) and a pair of birds perched on the blue branches. On the back of the vase, a black ideographic calligraphy accompanied by red seals completes the harmonious composition.
