engraver: renè gaillard, born in paris in 1719 and died there on april 11, 1790. Famous for his works based on boucher, greuze, and rigaut, he engraved approximately two hundred works of translation, initially portraits and genre scenes, and later became one of boucher's favorite interpreters.
