Carmier, painted in watercolour on paper and inspired by the famous portrait of Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire, painted by Thomas Gainsborough around 1785.

The piece depicts a lady wearing a black hat adorned with feathers and a rose at the corsage, a subject much appreciated in French miniatures of the early 20th century, where elegant 18th-century portraits were revisited in an intimate, decorative format.
