A classic mid-century modern teak coffee table by Jens Risom, showcasing the warm golden tones and expressive cathedral grain that define authentic vintage teak. This long, low rectangular table features Risom’s signature sculpted legs, integrated cross-stretcher, and refined Danish-inspired profile. A rare surviving original Risom label appears on the underside, confirming its provenance.
The tabletop displays a beautiful flow of teak grain in both straight and book-matched patterns, with a natural satin sheen that reflects the quality of mid-century Risom production. The warm color, tight pore structure, and ribbon-like grain figure are consistent with teak rather than walnut (see detailed grain photos).
This piece is ideal for Scandinavian interiors, minimalist MCM spaces, studio apartments, or collectors seeking an authentic Jens Risom design.
Condition:
Very good vintage condition consistent with age. The structure is solid, joints tight, and the table sits level. The original finish remains intact with warm, even coloration.
A few cosmetic notes (all shown in photos):
• Light scattered surface wear typical of a vintage teak table
• One longer scratch on the tabletop (see the close-up photo)
• Small edge softening from age
• Underside shows original joinery and Risom label
The surface could be enhanced with a light hand polish or teak oil refresh if a buyer desires, though many collectors prefer the preserved vintage finish.
Made in the United States, with strong Danish modern influence characteristic of Jens Risom’s design philosophy. Made between 1958 and 1964, with the highest likelihood centered around 1960–1963.
