Antique 19th century Italian Majolica olive oil storage jar with a hand-painted heraldic shield featuring two winged lions and a crown. A beautifully executed example from the Montelupo / Faenza region, dating approximately 1860–1900.
This large, impressive jar was wheel-thrown and finished with classic tin glaze and Renaissance revival decoration. The short pouring spout and dual side handles indicate its original use as an orciolo—a vessel for storing and dispensing olive oil or wine. The designs include vibrant scrollwork in ochre, cobalt blue, and green, and a central coat of arms flanked by stylized flourishes.
