Josef Eidenberger (1899–1991) was an acclaimed Austrian artist known for his masterful color etchings and finely detailed landscapes. Trained at the Graphic Academy of Art in Vienna under Alfred Cossman, he shifted from painting to etching early in his career, drawing inspiration from renowned etcher Luigi Kasimir. His meticulous technique and eye for atmosphere earned him widespread commissions across Europe and later in the United States. In 1977, the Austrian government honored him with the title “Professor of the Arts” for his contributions to fine art. His works appear in galleries and collections worldwide.

This piece was previously owned by the Burlingame Art Gallery and later sold at auction benefitting public television. All accompanying documentation is included.
