A beautifully weathered 19th century American copper bull weathervane, now presented on a newly fabricated black metal display base. This sculptural silhouette captures the rustic charm of early agricultural folk art, with the figure of a standing bull rendered in sheet copper and retaining a wonderfully complex surface patina.
The aged copper shows a rich interplay of natural verdigris greens, charcoal browns, and warm earthen tones, developed over decades of exposure. Subtle hammering, old tool marks, and gentle irregularities in the form testify to its handmade origins. Areas of oxidation and pitting are consistent with authentic 19th-century outdoor use and contribute to its character and depth.
The new base elevates the piece as a decorative object, allowing it to function as a freestanding sculptural accent on a console, bookshelf, or mantel while preserving its historical integrity.
A striking blend of Americana, folk art, and sculptural presence—this bull weathervane reads as both antique artifact and contemporary art.
