Pair of enameled and vitrified ceramic bottles, entirely wheel-shaped and decorated entirely by hand, signed "Cortiello" at the bottom. Both bottles have a truncated cone-shaped neck with a narrower neck where it joins the main body of the bottle, which has an elongated ovoid shape. The two bottles depict two Pulcinellas facing each other, with their arms crossed, as if dancing in a circle, and their backs are visible. They were intentionally created with the same decoration and shape, but in different sizes, one slightly smaller and one slightly larger. Made by Mario Cortiello, an important Neapolitan artist, they date back to around 1940-1950. The artistic style could be described as a dreamlike Fauvism, very similar to the works of Chagall; it's no coincidence that Cortiello has been nicknamed the "Italian Chagall."
