Glazed and vitrified ceramic plate, entirely hand-decorated with a dancing couple on a terrace overlooking the sea, signed at the … Read more Glazed and vitrified ceramic plate, entirely hand-decorated with a dancing couple on a terrace overlooking the sea, signed at the bottom by the artist "Mario Cortiello," an important Neapolitan painter and ceramist. The plate is of good size and of very high artistic quality. The artistic style could be described as dreamlike Fauvism, very similar to the works of Chagall; it is no coincidence that Cortiello has been nicknamed the "Italian Chagall." The piece dates to the first half of the 20th century, between 1930 and 1950.
