Antique Anglo Indian porcupine box with sliding lid, c.1900
Made in Ceylon, now Sri Lanka, as a local folk art using naturally shed quills and ebony wood. I call these pencil boxes as they remind me of my pencil boxes at school which had sliding lids. Good overall condition with all quills and dots intact. Lid opens and closes smoothly. Recently waxed and polished.
