A true piece of Chicago design history — this Frederick Cooper Celadon Crackle Glaze Lamp (Model F.32) embodies the timeless quality and craftsmanship that made Frederick Cooper one of America’s most respected lighting studios throughout the 20th century.
This piece dates to the 1960s–1970s, when the Cooper studio was producing lamps for high-end interiors and luxury retailers. Every component here is authentic and original — not a reproduction, not rewired, and not altered.
⸻
️ Key Features:
• Frederick Cooper model F.32 — stamped clearly on the underside of the solid mahogany base.
• Original Eagle 250W/250V socket with “PRESS” and UL mark, intact and functional.
• Original MEC ME-101A amber plug with vintage UL stamp, showing beautiful amber patina.
• Celadon porcelain body with a genuine crackle glaze finish, not a printed pattern — the intricate web of fine lines forms naturally during kiln firing, making each lamp unique.
• Solid carved wood base and cap, finished in deep espresso tones, showing minimal wear.
• Elegant pleated shade (optional) for a classic mid-century presentation.
• Approx. dimensions: 30” tall (to finial), 8” wide at the body.
⸻
️ Condition:
Exceptional vintage condition. No chips, cracks, or repairs to the ceramic body. Brass shows mild patina consistent with age. Lamp works perfectly and retains its warm, vintage authenticity.
⸻
Why It’s Rare & Worth the Value:
• Frederick Cooper Chicago was one of the last great American lighting houses producing lamps by hand rather than mass-production.
• Model F.32 is scarcely seen — very few survive in this condition, still with all original parts and electricals.
• The celadon crackle glaze technique traces back centuries to fine Asian ceramics, requiring expert control of temperature and timing to create that distinctive webbed effect. Each piece was unique, impossible to duplicate.
• Similar Frederick Cooper celadon pieces have sold at Chairish and 1stDibs for $800–$1,200+, even without original electrical components.
