This impressive vintage Chinese hanging scroll features an ancestral or imperial double portrait depicting a seated Qing Dynasty Emperor and Empress, or high-ranking officials, dressed in elaborate ceremonial robes with intricate dragon and auspicious motifs. The central image is a painting on paper or silk, which is then traditionally mounted onto a larger scroll of light green and beige silk damask. The inscription on the spindle confirms it is a "Qing Emperor and Empress Double Portrait Mid-Hall" (清帝后雙像中堂).
