We're looking at a 19th Century French metal container that was used to protect, carry and ship demijohns (a bulbous narrow-necked bottle holding from 3 to 10 gallons of liquid). Straw would have been used as well to protect the glass. The design we would describe as cage like, with its riveted vertical and horizontal solid and heavy-duty metal. The vertical strips are also curved giving the structure extra strength. Adding to the overall beauty is the two integrated top rounded handles. Adding even more beauty to it is the old dark black paint. So what can you use this super decorative piece now? A basket, a plant decor, a place to stack toys or fabrics, or or or... Great for home or retail.
