Made in Italy between the 1960s and 1970s by the historic company Alessi, a leader in stainless-steel tableware and kitchenware, the brand is inseparably tied to the history of Italian design. In this tray—two of which are available in our collection—Alessi successfully reinterprets and distills 18th-century Baroque style using a material that is virtually indestructible, even if not traditionally considered “precious”: stainless steel.

The tray features characteristic scalloped edges with scrolls and shell-shaped handles. The surface is decorated with a finely engraved micro-texture composed of arabesques and acanthus leaves. The tray is used but in good vintage condition, with signs of use such as scratches, visible in the photos and video. In this tray, which is the larger of the two available pieces, most of the wear is found on the back rather than on the front surface. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
