Up for sale is this gorgeous and unique 1960s timepiece: a framed psychedelic parody bullfight poster produced by artist John Paul Jones, who having created the fictitious Festoon Films with a partner, produced a handful of posters for Aztec Dances, Hippie Hootennannys, Surfaris, Hot-Jogging, and other fabricated events. Thus this event: "Cuero Limpio", "the height of bullfighting", and only 5 pesos. Olé!
About the artist:
John Paul Jones (1924-1999) was a painter, printmaker, and educator in Los Angeles who gained National recognition for his art around the time Festoon Films was formed.In 1963, he was the first pick of the eminent curator Una E. Johnson to inaugurate the Brooklyn Museum's solo exhibition series on distinguished contributors to the media of drawings and prints in the United States.
