Kubb chairs have prehistoric roots, but became common during the Middle Ages and were used well into the 19th century within peasant culture.
The wood was cut out as a single piece or coopered like a barrel.

Wooden cube chairs were especially common in northern Sweden, where they were used by fireplaces and as storage furniture.

Unique and well-preserved block chair, made of solid wood with a classic cylindrical shape and reinforcing metal bands. This chair has a foldable lid and originally served both as seating and practical storage – a typical feature in Swedish folk culture from the 18th–19th centuries.

The wood shows beautiful patina with signs of age such as cracks and color variations, giving the piece a genuine sense of the passage of time. The curved backrest and sturdy construction make it a decorative and functional collector's item. See less
