This vintage mid century modern Omni wall unit shelving system designed by George Nelson is circa 1960. This ingenious shelving system features spring-loaded floor to ceiling aluminum tension poles that provide structural support for wooden shelves and cabinets without the need to anchor into the wall. The wall system is designed to be fully modular and this 2-Bay configuration offers a well-balanced selection of display and storage components including a cabinet with a seated drop-down desktop. All walnut wood shelves and cabinets are easily movable and interchangeable with an intuitive design and endless arrangement possibilities. The wooden shelves can be hung on either side of the brackets and the entire system can be hung as shown against a wall or can float in a room and serve as a room divider. The tension poles fit a 8 foot (96") ceiling with internal springs that allow for a height differential of about 6" to 7". An additional set of support spacers in two sizes are included to further adjust tension for ceiling height. Wooden spacers are commonly fashioned to accommodate higher ceilings. The Omni wall unit system is both a functional anchor and sculptural focal point; perfect for a home or commercial setting.
