The spacious table—referred to as “Model 54” within the Aulenti Collection—features a curved or tubular metal frame and a top in shiny black lacquered or black laminated wood. The four armchairs, all with armrests, have sculpted metal tube frames and fine black leather upholstery; the frames and cushions are finished in matching black, and the chairs carry Knoll International labels. No longer available, Production of the Orsay table concluded in 1999.

This collection features rare examples from the Orsay series designed by Gae Aulenti—one of the few female figures of the postwar Italian modern movement—for Knoll International between 1969 and 1976.

The set of four Orsay Armchairs are originally designed in 1976 and produced by Knoll in the USA circa the 1980s, as well as the complete black dining table from Aulenti’s second design project for Knoll, introduced as the Aulenti Collection in 1976. The collection originally encompassed lounge seating, side chairs, and high and low tables, all constructed from seamless aluminum-alloy extruded tubes.

The four Orsay Armchairs, named for the Musée d'Orsay in Paris whose interiors Aulenti reimagined, feature sculptural lacquered aluminum frames and black leather upholstery.

Each chair measures:
24" D × 22.5" W × 33" H with a 17.75" seat height.
