A dramatic miniature painting in the impressionist style.- The composition, the colors and the deft brushstrokes - makes this painting an enchanting beauty.
The painting displays a vibrant plein air oil painting by the California artist Gary Ray. This piece captures a quintessential Southern or Central California landscape depicting a rolling landscape scene featuring a foreground blanketed in a thick, textured field of blue lupine and yellow poppy wildflowers, common in California wildflower blooms. A large, prominent oak tree stands on the left, with smaller trees and tall eucalyptus lining a body of water or distant plain in the middle ground.
Executed in a post-impressionist plein air style, the artist uses visible brushstrokes and a bold color palette to convey the light and atmosphere of the region.
Thick drifts of sky lupine cover the hillsides in the spring sunshine among the oaks and eucalyptus. Such a marvel of nature to see the fields of brilliant blues and purples covering everything in sight! However, it isn’t just the flowers that captivated the artist, it was this perfect lone oak out in the middle of this field of flowers all on its own. It reminds one of the renewal of spring and the resilience of time. These two elements joined together is a visual feast for the eyes and senses.
Blooming fantastically throughout the sand dunes, open oak savannas, and dry barrens of the Oak Openings was the rare wild lupine (Lupinus perennis) with its electric blue-purple flowers set perfectly against the lush green color of its lacy, palmately compounded leaves. Come this time of the year certain can't-miss spots in the area come alive with their stunning firework shows that are alone worth the drive up to the Toledo area.
A stunning little gem - painting of a hillside of blooming blue California lupines as seen in full bloom on the hill sides. The bright orange pops against muted chaparral tones, the brushwork thick and lively. Small but powerful and so beautiful.
This work was certainly painted from Real life
