This antique Meissen Flow Blue serving bowl is a beautiful example of classic European blue-and-white porcelain. Marked on its base with the iconic Meissen crossed swords, the piece features a richly patterned floral design with the characteristic soft “flowing” effect created during firing. The scalloped, fluted rim is finished with embossed scrollwork, adding depth and elegance to the overall form. Measuring over 9 inches in diameter, it is generously sized and displays exceptionally well. The piece is marked on its base with the "tower mark" used by Franz Ant. Mehlem in Bonn, Germany, between approximately 1885 and 1920.
Flow Blue was a highly sought-after technique during the Victorian era, and Meissen—Europe’s first producer of true hard-paste porcelain—remains one of the most prestigious manufacturers in the world.
