Emile Bernard (1868 - 1941) Kneeling Nude, c. 1900 Original India ink drawing Signed with the artist's stamp lower right On paper 14 x 14 cm at sight Presented in a wooden stick frame 26 x 26 cm Post-Impressionist artist, he is associated with the school of Pont-Aven. He frequented Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin and Paul Cézanne. His most radical works were produced during his youth, in the years 1887-1892 when he took part in the stylistic innovations of the end of the 19th century. His search for simplification of form led him to syntheticism, then to symbolism. from 1893, it gradually evolved towards a return to classicism inspired by the old masters.
