The thick, square board rests on four elegantly turned legs, a different design than the classic “lion’s paw” feet you often see on Go tables. This gives the piece a slightly lighter, more modern look.

Dimensions: height 25.5 cm, width 45 cm, depth 42 cm. Weight: 18 kg.

The playing surface with grid lines is in very good condition and, on this deluxe version, is framed by a neat wooden border all around.

The warm honey tone of the wood and the subtle grain pattern lend the board a calm, timeless presence; only light signs of use along the sides reflect its age.

The board comes with two gokei (bowls) made of bakelite with a wood-effect exterior. One bowl holds the white stones, cut from clam shell with soft, natural banding in the surface; the other contains the black stones in matte, glossy slate. The set is complete, with the correct number of stones, ready for immediate play.

On the underside of the board there is a Japanese ink inscription. It includes the character 温泉 (onsen – hot spring/spa) and a personal name, most likely referring to the maker or to the establishment for which this board was originally made.

A particularly beautiful Go set for the experienced player who enjoys authentic Japanese equipment, and at the same time a strong sculptural object for anyone looking for a stylish, zen-like accent in their interior. See less
