This piece is a superb example of Italian artisanal naval modeling, entirely handcrafted, estimated to date back to the 1960s.

Subject and Style: Naval design / Vintage modeling. The model depicts a three-masted sailing ship (barque or ship) complete with all rigging (ropes), masts, lifeboat, and fabric sails. The Italian flag flies from the stern.

Material and Finish: The hull, masts, and decks are made entirely of solid wood and turned wood. The sails are fabric (canvas), and the rigging is rope. The hull is hand-painted in blue, white, and yellow.

Base: The sailing ship rests securely on a wooden base (cradle), also painted blue, allowing for safe display.
