Image 19.5x28 This finely executed lithograph by Auguste Raffet depicts two Hungarian fishermen on the banks of the Danube, engaged in their work with nets and simple wooden boats, while the wide river landscape stretches into the distance. The composition is part of Raffet’s celebrated travel series Hongrie et Valachie (Hungary and Wallachia), published in Paris in 1843, documenting the artist’s journey along the Danube.
