romantic pair of late 18th-century french engravings in splendid original contemporary louis xvi gold leaf frames with antique matboards.
etchings in dotted style, printed on laid paper with fine coloring contemporary with the watercolor.
engraver: auguste claude simon le grand, born in paris in 1765, died there in 1815. A student of the famous painter and engraver lois le grand, he also distinguished himself as a painter and watercolorist.
based on a subject by jean baptiste huet (1745-1811), a renowned contemporary parisian painter.
period: late 18th century
