Lithograph on wove paper realized by Raffet in 1844. Signed and dated in the plate. Image dimension: 28x22 cm. This finely executed lithograph by Auguste Raffet depicts a group of Karaman men, dressed in their traditional long tunics, cloaks, and fur hats, engaged in quiet conversation. Raffet, celebrated for his detailed and ethnographic observations during his travels, captures not only the physiognomy but also the dignity and self-assurance of his subjects. The background, with architectural fragments and a windmill, anchors the composition within a broader cultural landscape. Printed on large-format wove paper, with visible foxing consistent with age, the sheet maintains a strong, clear impression. Overall good condition; scattered foxing, primarily in the margins, not affecting the image; wide margins preserved. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
