An exceptional silver plated urn made in the late-victorian area, an antique samovar by james dixon & sons, one of sheffield’s most celebrated silversmiths. This impressive urn displays a deeply fluted body encircled by a repoussé frieze of grapes and vine leaves, cast twin handles with neoclassical scrollwork, and a domed lid surmounted by a flame finial.
crafted in epbm (electro-plated britannia metal), this piece exemplifies the high-grade plating and sculptural design for which dixon became internationally admired.
