A cohesive pair of late-Meiji / early-Taishō Kyoto Satsuma vases signed Hakusan (白山). The elegant ovoid bodies rise to narrow everted rims beneath brocade shoulders of fan-shaped reserves filled with minute geometric and wave designs in soft blue, apricot, and gold. Below, lilac wisteria drapes over rolling hills; graceful bijin and children stroll among chrysanthemums and reeds. The painting is exceptionally controlled, combining bright gilding with subtle pastel enamels.
Crafted in fine stoneware with even crackle glaze, raised enamels, and gilt chasing with moriage highlights. Bases bear the black-and-gold Hakusan signature.
