COURTLY TABERNACLE SECRETARY

Southern Germany, circa 1750
Masterfully crafted three-part softwood cabinet with eight drawers and a tabernacle in the upper section, featuring an original and functional central locking mechanism.
The central section contains four drawers with two secret compartments and a writing flap. The chest has three drawers. Veneered with walnut, maple, burl wood, and various other precious woods. The tabernacle features marquetry in the shape of a compass rose. Original fittings and locks.
Beautifully grained walnut veneer in a warm tone on a softwood cabinet.
Panelled and with string inlays.
Excellent veneer patterns.
The opulent and detailed crowning element displays volutes and foliage.
