This distinctive metal desk dates from the 1950s to the early 1960s. Its design and the materials used clearly point to the industrial-functional furniture style of postwar modernism, typical of workshops, offices, and technical schools in switzerland and the netherlands.
the desk impresses with its clear, rational construction: a sturdy steel frame with wide, cantilevered legs ensures stability, while the plywood tabletop with its light green resopal surface provides a pleasing contrast to the industrial character of the base.
the base, made of gray-green lacquered sheet steel, incorporates a side-mounted drawer unit with three drawers and a lockable compartment (key not included). A metal panel on the opposite side serves as both a screen and reinforcement.
the entire construction is designed for functionality and durability: solid steel profiles, height-adjustable feet, and a well-engineered, bolted connection of the components. The design follows the concept of functional furniture – uncluttered, modular, and robust.
condition: very good, stable original condition with authentic patina. The paint shows occasional scratches, small dents, and minimal color variations, which lend the piece its industrial charm. The formica top is well-preserved, with light signs of use and minimal edge wear. All drawers function perfectly, and the key is included. Overall, a superbly preserved work table with collector's value – a classic example of functional swiss industrial aesthetics from the 1950s.
