This piece is part of a series, in a palette of carmine red, ultramarine blue, and with hints of yellow, made of sanded layers of paint, the texture and color of the applications visible in scattered patches. The painting continues uninterrupted over the edge of the piece.

Babette Herschberger's minimalist yet dimensional compositions emphasize color and surface at small and large scales. Her signature bold color palette and lively experimentation with form result in exhibitions that transcend traditional presentation.

"Born of spontaneity, the work is a reflection of myself at the time of its creation. A deliberate sense of order and space is achieved through color interaction, repetitive elements, hand drawn grid lines, and loose geometric shapes. These elements provide entry points, and paths with which to enter and navigate the work."

Herschberger graduated from the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale. Her work is in the collection of the Museum of Art + Design in Miami and was published in New American Paintings, edition #112. See less
