A truly wonderful glass sculpture of a shark surfing on the wave. The light reflects so beautifully, and the blue color shines in the right light. This blue shark draw all eyes to it.
the blue glass sharks belong to a series of colorful animal motifs in soda glass, which were particularly common during the 1960s and 1970s
fm konstglas is highly sought after by collectors today, especially figures with label marks and signatures.
fm konstglas in ronneby manufactured its figures using traditional glassmaster techniques, often inspired by murano glass art, where the marcolin brothers originally learned their craft.
each glass figure, including the sharks, was blown and shaped by hand in the glassworks.this means that no shark is exactly the same – small variations in shape, color, and details make each piece unique.
färe-marcolin art glass, often called fm art glass, is a fascinating chapter in swedish glass history – with roots in both murano and ronneby.
josef and benito marcolin, two brothers from murano in italy, came to sweden in 1954 to work at glimma glassworks and later reijmyre glassworks.
in 1961, they founded fm art glass in ronneby, where fm stands for färe-marcolin – a combination of their surnames and josef marcolin's wife inga-lill färe's name.
other family members also participated in the business, including the brothers giovanni and luigi as well as their sister anna-maria with her husband aure toso, also a glazier.
fm konstglas is known for its sculptural design, often featuring soft lines and vibrant colors that shift in the light – their shark and fish figures are especially popular.
production continued until 1991, when the glassworks was closed. Marked at the bottom. Ronneby sweden b 783 400. This piece has an attribution mark,
