Japanese Imari porcelain plate, Edo period (1603-1868)
This Imari porcelain plate is a true collector's item from the Edo period, renowned for the excellence and refinement of its ceramic production. Its octagonal shape distinguishes it, along with the richness of its polychrome decoration, which combines classic underglaze cobalt blue with raised enamels of iron red, orange, and gold.
The decoration is meticulously hand-painted and is divided into several panels:
Central panel: The center of the plate features a floral arrangement in a vase, typical of the Imari decorative repertoire.
Border: The eight sections of the border are decorated with floral and nature motifs, with four cloud-shaped panels (cartouches) containing additional floral designs.
Details: The use of gold to finish the details adds a touch of luxury and testifies to the high quality of the piece.
Condition: Perfect.
Japan, early 18th century.
The diameter is 28.5 cm.
