The composition is masterfully balanced, featuring a central medallion with stylised chrysanthemum and foliage motifs, surrounded by four alternating panels of floral and scroll designs. The outer rim presents a fine geometric pattern, while the reverse is delicately decorated with blue leaf motifs – a mark of authentic craftsmanship from the Arita kilns.
This impressive charger, measuring 46 cm in diameter, exemplifies the elegance and energy of Meiji-period Imari ware. It can be displayed as a statement wall piece, used as a centre bowl, or integrated into a modern eclectic interior as a conversation artwork.
Despite a small and discreet rim chip visible in the photographs, the overall condition remains excellent for its age, with vibrant enamel tones and a lustrous glaze.
