Originally this was a merchant’s crate – a practical box used to transport goods, food or materials, while at the same time functioning as advertising.

Dimensions: height 32 cm, width 53 cm, depth 28 cm.

The large brush-painted characters (including the sign 銀, gin – “silver”) give the crate a strong graphic and authentic look.

The crate is made from warmly toned wood with a thin lacquer finish, beautifully aged with characterful traces of use. The straight handle is neatly mounted to the sides and gives the piece a simple, clear line.

Today this is an exceptionally versatile interior piece. The crate can serve as a fruit tray on the table, a plant holder with one or several pots, or a practical box for magazines, toys or drawing and painting supplies.
